Birdie partners with NHSX for Techforce19

We’re extremely proud to announce that we’ve been chosen to partner with NHSX to roll out a care worker app, fully integrated with the NHS111 online symptom checker, to help care providers during COVID-19. With over 1,600 applications to Techforce19, Birdie is one of just 18 startups chosen. 

NHSX and MHCLG last week announced the 18 digital solutions that have been awarded funding under the TechForce19 challenge. TechForce19 has awarded up to £25,000 to innovations that offer a digital way to support vulnerable people. NHSX has been working with partners PUBLIC and the AHSN Network to run the fast-track competition for innovators, creating a pool of technologies that have the potential to be rapidly scaled regionally and nationally. 

What this means

Birdie will deploy a free, national care worker app with a COVID-19 symptom checker, integrated with the NHS111 service, to identify confirmed or suspected infections among the elderly they care for. As it’s fully integrated with the existing NHS111 service, it’ll be the first care management app to provide carers and care managers with online medical guidance in real-time; regularly updated by the NHS to stay up to date with Public Health England and Government recommendations. 

It will also enable better infection tracking for care providers, local authorities and the NHS, addressing one of the most crucial needs during the COVID-19 crisis.
