Rachael Crook started it as a homecare provider in 2018, employing carers directly at above market rate, and ran it that way for four years before the business became a technology platform in 2022 on a £1.3 million Innovate UK grant.

In this session she takes apart how far ahead of work a growing provider can afford to hire. What she committed to before the hours existed, and how she built a team that stayed the course and grew with her. What carrying cost her, month by month, and what she learned in the process.

She’s since founded Lifted, which now works with more than 750 UK care providers on recruitment, onboarding and sponsorship compliance.

Rachael Crook is the founder and CEO of Lifted, founded in 2018 as a homecare provider. Rachael is an Obama Leader, one of 36 people in Europe recognised for their contribution to social change, and sits on the Department of Health and Social Care's expert advisory group on workforce reform. In 2022 the business became a technology platform, and Lifted was acquired by the Grosvenor Group in 2024. It is now also an approved immigration adviser and works with more than 750 care providers on hiring, onboarding and sponsorship.
