Carer of the Week

Introducing the Birdie Carer of the week Eva Kaman

Each and every day there are an army of dedicated care staff going the extra mile to make someone’s life better. Never before has their hard work, tenacity and positive attitude been more important. We asked our partner agencies to nominate their very own frontline care heroes, those going the extra mile every day to deliver the best care. We’re excited to introduce you to our next Carer of the Week, Eva Kaman from Olive Leaf Healthcare Solutions.

"As a care Worker Eva Excelled at everything she did and carried the Olive Leaf core values with pride. outside her personal life her job is her joy (I think) and this reflects in everything that she does. Since being promoted to the Team Leader Position she has taken this to another level and we can clearly see her positive qualities in the care team members that she continues to mentor. She is excellent in her role as team Leader and we are blessed to have her on the team"

“Eva, how are you coping with COVID-19?”

"To be honest, it's like normal. There is obviously more prep and some more work than usual but nothing too extreme. I often have to cover shifts on the field when we are short staffed. Thankfully, our boss prepared us for more stress just in case, and it is not that bad."

“What's the biggest challenge you've faced?”

"Apart from the extra hours, I can't think of anything. I try to take everything easily, as it comes."

“How do you keep positive?”

“Seeing all the smiles when I'm out delivering care! I can see my clients smile and being ever so grateful when they see me coming through the door. It's a reward in itself. I love making them smile and leaving them with a smile at the end of the visit! I also get smiles when I arrive home, with my children running up to me and hugging me. They really appreciate what I do. My daughter even wrote a poem about me and the work I do. It's nice to see so many happy people!"

Ami's beautiful poem for her mum ❤️

"How do you maintain a work-life balance?"

"Somehow my family support me. Whenever I am home, we spend quality time as a family. We go sit in and watch TV or we go out for a walk. But I am always "

“Does Birdie help make it easier?”

"Yes absolutely, I love it. When Lucy sent it to me first I was very excited. It's much easier to write the notes. We still have carers learning it. Older carers do find it harder but will come round. We've seen a reduction in our phone calls due to the alert system where carers can send information to us directly and we can see it, rather than having them call all the time."

Sasa's wonderful 'Firework' dance...

We’d like to say a huge well done to Eva, and thank you for doing the work you do. We’ll be posting a Carer of the Week each and every week so make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram to see the winners.

Thank you, Eva. You are an amazing carer, Team Leader, and mother.
